Volunteer Opportunities
Provincial Engineering and Geoscience Week (PEGW) - Multiple Positions
March is National Engineering Month and, here in Manitoba, PEGW is held to promote engineering and geoscience as career choices, celebrate engineering and geoscience within our province, and to draw attention to the vital role that engineering and geoscience play in our daily lives. This year, PEGW will be recognized from March 1 to March 8 with events taking place at multiple schools within Winnipeg and at Kildonan Place Mall. Volunteers play a vital role in the success of this week and are needed for such events as the Spaghetti Bridge Competition, Association Booth, and Children's Activities. Please review the call for volunteers for full details and times when volunteers are needed.
Rotary Career Symposium - Multiple Positions
The Rotary Career Symposium provides a dynamic venue where students and adults gain valuable information about various education and employment options available in Manitoba, Canada, and even internationally. The Association is looking for volunteers to assist in staffing a booth to promote engineering and geoscience as careers to students, parents, and teachers. The Rotary Career Symposium takes place the evening of Monday, March 16 and during the day on Tuesday, March 17 and Wednesday, March 18 at the RBC Convention Centre. Please review the call for volunteers for full details and times when volunteers are needed.

Member Engagement Sessions - Future By-law Amendments - Changes to Retired Member Status - February 3 and February 12, 2020
Council invites all members to participate in an engagement session discussing the requirement to address incongruity between our Act and Bylaws, including By-law changes for 2020. Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba obtained advice from legal counsel regarding the legality of retired categories of membership. It was found that having retired categories is currently in contradiction with the Act. Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba is currently exploring options to eliminate contradictions between the By-laws and the Act while still maintaining services for retired members. We are seeking input from membership to determine the best course of action. For more information and to register, please visit the event page.
