Looking Back Through Our Century: March 1920
On March 27 our Association turns 100 years old! An Act respecting the engineering profession was passed and assented on March 27, 1920 in the Legislative of the Province of Manitoba. At that time, the Association of Professional Engineers of the Province of Manitoba became a body, politic and corporate, with perpetual succession and common seal. Our first Association President was M.A. Lyons and 168 engineers were registered with the Association. Today, Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba has grown to 8,815 registered practitioners. Fighting Hunger by Putting Engineering Skills to the Test
During the first week of March, over one thousand students from Winnipeg and surrounding areas put their engineering skills to the test in the 25th annual Spaghetti Bridge Competition. Students aren't the only ones who benefit from the competition. Since 2010, Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba has donated over $207,000 to Winnipeg Harvest, enabling them to distribute over 4 million kilograms of food to families in Manitoba.
