Award Nominations Closing Soon! The Association is seeking nominations for the
2024 Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba Awards. Honours are presented in ten
categories and recognize outstanding Manitoba engineers and geoscientists,
teams, and employers. Submit to Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba no later than
Friday, February 23, 2024. The Student Achievement Award nomination
deadline is
Friday, May 10, 2024. Detailed award descriptions and

PEGW
- 2024 Spaghetti Bridge Competition -
March 18 - 21, 2024 As
part of Provincial Engineering and Geoscience Week (PEGW) our annual Spaghetti
Bridge Competition, in support of Winnipeg Harvest, returns from Monday, March
18, to Thursday, March 21, 2024. Students in K - Grade 12 compete to build the
strongest truss using just pasta and white or wood glue, then watch as we test
it to destruction! The builder(s) of the strongest truss in each class wins a
prize and a donation will be made to Harvest Manitoba based on the cumulative
load that all of the trusses hold. In 2023, the Association donated $18,661.50! Entry into the 2024 Spaghetti Bridge Competition
is
free, but pre-registration is required. For more information on the

For Leaders: What's Microaggressions Got To Do With It? -
February 21,
2024 Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba invites members to join this
exclusive three-hour follow-up training session to deepen their understanding
of microaggressions and their impacts in the workplace, presented by certified
mediators Delia Joseph and Karen Ridd. This interactive virtual session will

Social Hour - Bingo Bowling -
March 14, 2024 The Sports and
Social Committee is pleased to announce the next EngGeoMB Social Hour, an
in-person event for registrants of the Association to meet one another in a
casual setting. This event in March will feature an evening of Bingo Bowling at
Uptown Alley, including pizza, popcorn, and soft drinks, and is open to all
registrants of Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba. For more information and to

University
of Manitoba: Seismic Design Workshop -
March 1, 2024 As of
January 2024, Manitoba has adopted the earthquake design provisions in the 2020
National Building Code of Canada. All Part 4 buildings in Manitoba are now
required to be designed to resist ground shaking due to the types of
earthquakes that geoscientists predict could occur in the region. This
in-person workshop will provide the participants the knowledge needed to
undertake seismic design of concrete shear wall buildings in Manitoba. For more

Members Chapter: Annual General Meeting and Professional Development Event

March 5, 2024 The India Members Chapter has announced its 2024
Annual General Meeting, followed by a professional development event where
Cari-Lynn Lecocq will present on the topic
Remote Work with a Holistic
Approach Encompassing Ergonomics and Various Strategies. This event is
being offered in-person at the Association office, where food will be provided
