Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba Welcomes Michael Gregoire, P.Eng., FEC, as CEO/Registrar/Secretary
Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael Gregoire, P.Eng., FEC, as the CEO/Registrar/Secretary, effective immediately. Mr. Gregoire brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the role, having served in various capacities within the organization for the past 16 years. His tenure as interim CEO/Registrar/Secretary since January 2023 has been marked by dedication, collaboration, and a steadfast commitment to the advancement of the engineering and geoscience professions in Manitoba. Call for Council Applications
This year, the Nominating Committee is putting out a call for professional members who are interested in standing for nomination, by Council, in the upcoming election. There are four (4) Council vacancies for 2024; three (3) professional engineers and one (1) professional geoscientist. There is no vacancy for the intern position on Council this year. Members who are interested are asked to complete the application form and submit it along with their curriculum vitae (CV) to Info@EngGeoMB.ca (on behalf of the Nominating Committee). Application forms and CVs can also be mailed or dropped off at the Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba Office at 870 Pembina Highway, Winnipeg, MB, R3M 2M7. The deadline for application submissions is Friday, May 17, 2024, at 4:30 p.m.

Paul Hubley, P.Geo., FGC to become new CEO of Geoscientists Canada
Geoscientists Canada is pleased to announce that Paul Hubley, P.Geo., FGC, will take the helm of Geoscientists Canada as Chief Executive Officer upon the retirement of the current CEO, Andrea Waldie, P.Geo., FGC, on May 31, 2024. Paul Hubley has over 30 years of experience on projects in environmental consulting in Canada and the United States. He is recognized as an expert in geology, hydrogeology, and site assessment and remediation. For more information, please read the full news story.

Volunteer Opportunities
Investigation Committee
The Investigation Committee is a committee of Council and is made up of registered professionals from all disciplines, who review complaints made about the conduct of members in a timely manner and makes recommendations for discipline based on the severity of the offense. The committee also provides guidance to membership on standards of professional practice. The committee is currently looking for a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) working in the area of structural engineering to join the committee. For full details, please see the call for volunteers.

Ingenium Task Group - Multiple Positions
The Ingenium Task Group assists in the planning of the professional development seminars that will be offered at the Association's annual Ingenium conference in November, by suggesting suitable topics, identifying potential suitable speakers, and task group members assisting in the moderation of conference sessions. Join us in celebrating our volunteers at the upcoming EngGeoMB Volunteer Appreciation Night at The Manitoba Museum Planetarium. The evening will include refreshments, networking, and the Planetarium Show, Manitoba Skies! Wine and Cheese Event and Presentation to the Our Future Campaign Stars - Wednesday, June 12, 2024
The Indigenous Chapter of Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba will be hosting a wine and cheese event along with a presentation of posters to the campaign stars of the Our Future campaign. Electronic Document Authentication and Sealing Guidelines for Licensed Professionals - Wednesday, May 29, 2024
Cloud adoption and digital transformation is rapidly changing the way we work, and this transformation has been accelerated by COVID-19 and work from home. In this presentation, Notarius will present legal requirements, the different electronic signature solutions available on the market, and the different levels of reliability of each. Finally, Notarius will present EngGeoMB requirements for electronic documentation and sealing to ensure high level of legal reliability for professional documents.
