EngGeoMB Offers Condolences to All Survivors of the Residential School System and Families
Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba is saddened and mourns the loss of the 215 children found in an unmarked grave at the former Kamloops Indian Residential School. We offer our sincere condolences during this time of profound grief to all survivors of the residential school system and all families affected by this genocide.We encourage non-Indigenous members to continue learning more about Indigenous children who were forcibly taken from their families, identify and correct unaccountable language around residential schools and colonial Canada, take individual actions to listen and learn more, and support the Association to make Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba as safe a place as possible for Indigenous practitioners, volunteers, and staff. The Limitations Act Receives Royal Assent
The Limitations of Actions Act has been repealed and been replaced by The Limitations Act, which received Royal Assent on May 20, 2021. Practitioners will be urged to inform their insurance companies about the changes to the limitation periods and to consult with them regarding implications for existing and new contracts once the Act has been proclaimed. Douglas Cardinal: Architect of the Future Film Screening and Conversation - June 3, 2021
Join the Canadian Urban Institute, in partnership with Engineers Canada, for an intimate conversation with world-renowned architect, Douglas Cardinal. The event, taking place at 11:00 a.m. today, will open with a screening of Cardinal's 30-minute documentary and move to a conversation led by interviewer Randy Herrmann, P.Eng., FEC, Director of the Engineering Access Program (ENGAP) at the University of Manitoba. Allyship for Everyone - June 8, 2021
For women working in male-dominated careers, more male allies mean a greater sense of inclusion. But being an ally is about more than just taking over the situation to "rescue" someone.
