Shared at last week's AGM, as part of the Association's commitment to better
understand the issues faced by Indigenous peoples and further our
reconciliation efforts, all staff members have been enrolled in
Indigenous
Canada, a free course offered by the University of Alberta's Faculty of Native
Studies. This 12-part course explores Indigenous histories and contemporary
issues in Canada. Additional training for members and practitioners is
planned for the future through EngGeoMB.
Earlier this year, the Price Faculty of Engineering and
Friends of Engineering lost a great friend in Dean Emeritus, Dr. Douglas (Doug)
Ruth. Friends of Engineering, in partnership with the Price Faculty of
Engineering and the University of Manitoba, has announced that it will be
matching all gifts made to the Douglas and Beverly Ruth Centenary Award in
Engineering, up to $10,000, from now until December 31, 2021. An additional
fifty cents match from the Manitoba Scholarship and Bursary Initiative has been
secured, meaning every dollar given will be matched at 150 per cent. Read the
UM Today news story for more information on how to support this
initiative.
