2024 Building Code Implementation The Province will
adopt the new Manitoba Building Code (MBC) effective January 1, 2024, i.e. the
2020 National Building Code of Canada with Manitoba amendments, Regulation
78/2023. The City will refer to this as the 2024 Manitoba Building Code (9th
Edition), which will apply to all building permit applications submitted January
1, 2024 or later. For more information, please see the
news
story.
Appeal
Committee -
Multiple Positions The Appeal Committee fulfills
one of the core functions of Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba, as mandated by
the Act and by-laws. Appeal Committee members determine, as a panel, whether
to uphold, modify, or overturn decisions made by the Registration Committee,
Registrar, or Investigation Committee, by hearing appeals made by applicants
regarding registration decisions, and complainants regarding decisions made
by the Investigation Committee. The Association is looking for professional
members (P.Eng. and P.Geo.) who have ten or more years of professional
practice experience, have knowledge of the Act and by-laws, and some knowledge
of the judicial process to join the committee. Please review the
call
for volunteers for full details.
Competency-Based
Assessors -
Multiple Positions EngGeoMB is seeking additional
assessors, to conduct a final review of an applicant's Competency-Based
Assessment (CBA) report, by providing their own ratings for each of the
competencies, and make a recommendation on the applicant's readiness for
professional registration. We are seeking professional members who are working
in a supervisory capacity and are receiving remuneration on a full-time or
regular basis (greater than 300 hours per calendar year) in
all engineering
and geoscience disciplines, but with a specific need in the following
engineering disciplines:
Biomedical (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical),
Industrial, and Chemical. Please review the
call
for volunteers for full details.
