Online Info Session: Thinking About Running for Council? Let's Talk!

Call for Abstracts: 2025 Ingenium Professional Development Seminars
Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba will host its annual conference, Ingenium, in a virtual format in November 2025. Open until Friday, May 2, 2025, the Association welcomes abstracts for presentations on any topic related to engineering and geoscience and the professionals which practise in those fields, for consideration for inclusion in the Ingenium Professional Development Seminars. Making Links Engineering Classic (MLEC) 2025: Early Bird Closes Sunday, May 4, 2025!
The annual Making Links Engineering Classic will take place at Quarry Oaks on Thursday, June 19, 2025! Hosted by Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba, this event supports engineering students at the Price Faculty of Engineering. 2025 Student Achievement Award Deadline Approaching
Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba is seeking nominations for the 2025 Student Achievement Award, which is intended to recognize an undergraduate engineering or geoscience student or group of students who have shown excellence in, and/or major contributions to, the concept/design of a groundbreaking engineering or geoscience project/thesis. The deadline for nominations is Friday, May 9, 2025. For more information about the award, please see the Student Achievement Award Criteria. Please see the Awards page for more details.

Professional Practice Examination Screening Group (PPESG) - Group Member
The National Professional Practice Examination (NPPE) Nominating Regulator Group for the region is seeking a Manitoba representative who is a professional member (P.Eng. or P.Geo.) to join the Professional Practice Examination Screening Group to assist in the development of appropriate questions for the NPPE. Applicants need to be in good standing with EngGeoMB, be a practicing professional with a minimum of five years of industry experience post-licensure, have a good understanding of public interest and self-regulation, and have a good understanding of professionalism and professional ethics. Interested members are asked to submit a letter of interest and short resume outlining your skill set no later than Thursday, May 8, 2025, to Volunteer@EngGeoMB.ca

Volunteer Applications are Now Open for the 2025/2026 Engineer in Residence (EIR) Program
Engineers of Tomorrow is now welcoming applications for the Engineer in Residence Program for 2025/2026. The EIR program is an engineering outreach program, reaching K - 12 students. The volunteer EIR brings real-life dimension to the curriculum, using hands-on projects, presentations, and other activities in the classroom. By sharing their personal stories and passion for their profession, the EIR's presence in the classroom puts a face to engineering. For more information and to apply, please see the full news story.

Professional Engineers are Key in Walking with (Re)conciliation - Thursday, May 1, 2025
Truth and (Re)conciliation is a priority for First Nations, Metis, and Inuit, and Canadians are finding their way to answering the Calls to Action in their personal and professional lives. Geoscientists and engineers especially have a role to play as we serve the public interest, which includes diverse populations, including Indigenous populations. An Overview of Competency-Based Assessment (CBA) - Wednesday, May 21, 2025
The Admissions Department is offering an overview of competency-based assessment (CBA) - the online system used to evaluate engineering and geoscience work experience and competencies to determine readiness for professional registration and licensure. This online session will be of interest to current interns as well as prospective applicants, new graduates, validators, assessors, and anyone interested in learning about CBA. Understanding Foundational Teachings to Work Towards Two-Eyed Seeing - Tuesday, June 3, 2025
We will discuss Indigenous Worldviews and ways, touching upon foundational teachings such as the Seven Sacred Teachings and the Medicine Wheel. We strive to give an appreciation to how spirituality is intertwined into every aspect of Indigenous Peoples behaviour and Community function. Professional Liability Agents Network (PLAN): Ethics of Resilient Design Webinar - Thursday, May 8, 2025
PLAN has announced the 2025 webinar series presented by the PLAN Education Committee in collaboration with AXA XL. As extreme weather and climate change impact more projects, a design professional's obligation to discuss a project's potential for success and design accordingly will evolve. The applicable code of ethics can help the design professional navigate difficult conversations with clients and ultimately design projects that satisfy ethical obligations and facilitate positive project outcomes.
