Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba Family Legacy Bursary Draw
EngGeoMB is now accepting applications for the 2025 Family Legacy Bursary Draw. Five bursary prizes are given to the children of Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba members. Applicants must be enrolled full time in first-year engineering or geoscience studies. The application deadline is September 1, 2025. For eligibility criteria and how to apply, please see the application form.

MAA Appoints New Executive Director
Manitoba Association of Architects (MAA) is pleased to welcome new Executive Director, Kristine Tubiera, while announcing the retirement of long time Executive Director, Judy Pestrak, who will be celebrated at a later date. For more information about MAA, please see their website.

CBHCC Seeking Input on Addressing Embodied Greenhouse Gas Emissions in the National Model Codes
The Canadian Board for Harmonized Construction Codes (CBHCC) is seeking input from stakeholders, experts, code users, and the general public on the first phase of its draft policy direction for addressing embodied greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in new houses and buildings in the National Model Codes. This first phase will inform the initial technical work to develop requirements for the 2030 Codes. For more information, please refer to the CBHCC's Consultation overview document.

Academic Review Committee - Multiple Positions
Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba is establishing an Academic Review Committee (ARC) as part of anticipated updates to academic criteria and the academic assessment program in the Manual of Admissions, expected to come into effect July 1, 2025, and will support and provide recommendations to the Registration Committee in determining if first-time applicants for enrolment as an intern are academically qualified. The committee requires professional members (P.Eng. or P.Geo.) who are in good standing with the Association, compliant with ProDev, and who have an awareness of current academic requirements, practice standards, employer contexts, and workplace cultures, in either engineering or geoscience. In partnership with the Indigenous Chapter, join us for a half-day session focused on foundational cultural awareness, exploring Indigenous worldviews, ways of life, medicines, traditions, and ceremonies. All My Relations by Brian Mcleod of Strong Heart Consultation offers guidance on how to respectfully engage in traditional practices and build meaningful relationships within Indigenous cultural spaces.
