By-law 18.2 Liability Insurance Requirements for Professional Members and Licensees Practising as Sole Proprietors
At the 2024 Annual General Meeting, changes to By-law 18.2 were passed,
making it a requirement for all professional members, temporary licensees,
and specified scope of practice licensees (SSPL) who are practising individually ("sole proprietors"),
to hold professional liability insurance. This change aims to better protect the public, clients, and practitioners.
Sole proprietors have until December 31, 2025, to comply with the new requirements and will be required
to hold the same insurance as Certificate of Authorization holders, the details of which are set by Council.

the Circular Mentorship Program The Circular Mentorship Program is a
year-long program that unites practitioners in engineering and geoscience
professions and build trusting relationships among less experienced and
more-experienced members together, to offer guidance, support, and
encouragement aimed at developing the competence and character. Registration
opens on
Friday, November 14, 2025, and ends on
Monday, December,

Ground
Source Heat Pump (GSHP) Industry Survey The Manitoba Construction
Sector Council is currently facilitating a project to better understand the
current state of existing workforce and equipment capacity for the GSHP
industry. The survey will only take five minutes of your time and will provide
valuable context needed to develop a roadmap to facilitate improvements for
this increasingly in-demand industry. The deadline for responses is
Monday,
November 24, 2025. The intended audience of this
survey
is companies either currently providing products or services in Manitoba's
ground source heat pump (GSHP) / geothermal industry or companies that
has the potential to move into this space.
Registration
Committee The Registration Committee is a committee of Council,
responsible for conducting the final review of applicants and interns moving
forward towards final registration and licensure. The committee is currently
looking for a professional geoscientist (P.Geo.) to participate in applicant
reviews and monthly meetings. The application deadline for this opportunity is
