2026 Volunteer Appreciation Night
On Tuesday, June 2, 2026,
Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba celebrated its volunteers at the
Royal Aviation Museum of Western Canada
during our Annual Volunteer Appreciation Night.
Despite a rainy evening,
more than 130 attendees joined us to recognize and celebrate the contributions of the Association's volunteers.
Guests enjoyed refreshments,
networking opportunities,
access to the museum's aircraft and aviation exhibits,
and scavenger hunts for both children and adults.

Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba Family Legacy Bursary Draw
EngGeoMB is now accepting applications for the 2026 Family Legacy Bursary Draw.
Five bursary prizes are given to the children of Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba members.
Applicants must be Canadian residents and must be enrolled full-time in the first year
of an engineering or geoscience program at a CEAB accredited Canadian university or college.
The application deadline is September 1, 2026.

EngGeoMB Volunteers with Habitat for Humanity
On Wednesday, May 20, and Thursday, June 4, 2026,
EngGeoMB volunteers and staff rolled up their sleeves to support Habitat for Humanity Manitoba
at one of the organization's largest development projects in its history.
Located on Pandora Avenue West in Transcona and spanning three acres,
the development includes 11 blocks of five townhouses each, creating 55 homes.
Once complete, the community will provide housing for approximately 275 people,
including 175 children.

Public Review of Proposed National Model Code Changes Now Open
The Canadian Board for Harmonized Construction Codes (CBHCC)
has opened the first public review of proposed changes to the 2025 National Model Codes,
and engineers,
geoscientists,
and other code users are encouraged to participate.
This public review covers proposed updates on a wide range of topics,
including prescriptive energy efficiency requirements for demonstrating compliance with Energy Performance Tier 2.
The public review period is open until
Monday, June 22, 2026.
All comments received will be reviewed by the relevant code development committees
and may inform future changes to the 2030 editions of the National Model Codes.
This is an important opportunity for professionals to contribute directly
to the national code development process and help shape future requirements.

Bike to Work Week 2026
This year, Bike to Work Week runs from June 7 - 13.
Join EngGeoMB and Dillon Consulting at their co-hosted pit stop on
Tuesday, June 9, 2026.
The pitstop will be at the end of Harrow Steet where the multi-use path extends down to the Jubilee underpass path
(across Pembina Highway from the Association office),
from 6:30 - 9:00 a.m.

The Investigation Committee
The Investigation Committee reviews complaints regarding member conduct,
recommends disciplinary actions when appropriate,
and provides guidance on standards of professional practice and conduct.
The committee is currently seeking a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.)
with experience in structural engineering to join its membership.

International Women in Engineering Day (INWED) Panel -
Tuesday, June 23, 2026
In celebration of INWED 2026, join Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba
for a panel discussion featuring past members from the original
Committee for Increasing the Participation of Women in Engineering (CIPWIE).
Featured panelists are Lindsay Melvin, P.Eng.,
Andrea Watts, P.Eng.,
Nusraat Masood, EIT,
and Neemee Batstone, P.Eng.
This event will be taking place in room E3-270 at the
Price Faculty of Engineering at The University of Manitoba.

Geometric Design: Fundamentals and Emerging Practices in Urban Street Design -
Thursday, June 18, 2026
This training equips participants with the knowledge and tools to navigate this evolving landscape
with live facilitators that offer a variety of experience in planning and designing for complex urban environments,
including complete streets and protected intersections.
A mix of presentations, case studies, interactive exercises,
and question and answer periods will be incorporated to allow attendees to apply fundamental design principles for urban streets,
navigate design trade-offs, and incorporate emerging solutions.
